The well-known problem: a reversing camera cannot easily be fitted to vehicles with a tailgate. If you use a conventional body-mounted camera, you can point it downwards, but the rear of many vehicles is slightly rounded at the top. A normal reversing camera would capture this curvature and thus obscure the trailer coupling, running board or bumper.The solution from LUIS: The reversing camera was integrated into the 3rd brake light glass of the VW T6. The camera provides a view beyond the curvature and captures the entire rear board, bumper and any attachments. This is what makes precise maneuvering possible. The powerful IR LEDs reliably penetrate the darkness and bring light into the close-up area of the rear section. Automatic white balance and, in particular, automatic backlight compensation ensure good visibility even in challenging lighting conditions.
