LUIS brake light camera Crafter/MAN TGE 2017

The well-known problem: a reversing camera cannot easily be fitted to vehicles with rear doors. If you use a conventional body-mounted camera, you can point it downwards, but the rear of many vehicles is slightly rounded at the top. A normal reversing camera would capture this curvature and thus obscure the trailer coupling, the running board or the bumper.
The LUIS solution: the reversing camera was integrated into the 3rd brake light glass of the VW Crafter. The camera provides a view beyond the curvature and captures the entire rear wall, bumper and any attachments. This makes precise maneuvering possible.
The powerful IR LEDs reliably penetrate the darkness and bring light into the close-up area of the rear section. Automatic white balance and, in particular, automatic backlight compensation ensure good visibility even in challenging lighting conditions. Optimal conditions for accident-free driving and improved work efficiency.
Insurance companies and employers' liability insurance associations reward the use of LUIS reversing systems accordingly.
